What’s Life without a Little Fun?

After my last post, I think you forgot the fun!, I got some interesting comments and emails. Let me assure you, they all made me laugh! But Deborah has a good point here:

“Nancy always brings the fun. How could you forget the fun, Nancy?!”

Let me explain. No, that will take too long. Let me sum up: the quote from I think you forgot the fun! was completely pulled out of context. Which is what — I thought — made it so funny. The original conversation went a little like this:

Me: I’m just doing it for the fun of it. And if it turns out not to be fun, then I’m not going to do it because that’s why I’m doing it: for the fun.

Preston: Sounds good. I mean, if it’s not fun then I think you forgot the fun Nancy.

So Deborah, no, I didn’t forget the fun. I never forget the fun. In fact, I’m doing my best to always add the fun.

One of my favorite movie quotes is delivered by Sirius Black in the fifth Harry Potter movie: “What’s life without a little risk?” But, if I may (which I may because this is my blog after all), I prefer my version better:

“What’s life without a little fun?”

And I’ll tell you the answer: BORING!

Flying pigs: making life a little less boring. (Art by Nancy N. Blackburn while she was bored in class…)

So if you don’t think getting water thrown on your face in the wee morning hours while you’re still dreaming about devouring the perfect ice cream sundae is fun, well, at least I thought it was fun.

So, let this be a lesson to you: if you’re doing something for the fun of it, don’t forget the fun!
